“Hinga atu he tētē kura, haramai he tētē kura”
(as one chief moves on, another arrives)
Our BOT hui at Special Character (bilingual) school Hāpuku – Kaikōura, was filled with sadness and joy as Tumuaki matua Tai Huata begins preparation for his return to his whānau in Te Ika a Māui and in doing so makes way for the new Tumuaki, Rīpeka Tamepo.
I personally, will miss Matua Tai’s sense of humour and arero pono, one thing he taught me that I will always remember is “he kaha tō te kupu”, heoi, e te taniwha hikuroa, nei rā ka mihi atu ki a koe.
Ki a tātou o Kaikōura, tautokongia e tātou te kura me te Tumuaki hou, arā, ko whaea Rīpeka me te Tamepo whānau katoa, heoi, nau mai, haramai.
